News

It was quite a year.

2025 saw the 30th Anniversary of Gillian’s passing. The year also saw a number of important events and publications. To name but two:

The Gillian Rose Memorial Conference held in June. The two-day event at Swedenborg Hall, London, was funded by GillianRose.Org and organized by CRMEP’s Peter Osborne. Howard Caygill, Peter and I first started planning more than a year earlier so it was gratifying to see so much interest in Gillian’s works.

Scholars from diverse backgrounds and geographies attended and presented papers to two hundred attendees across six panels prefaced by Howard’s frame-setting composition “Promise & perdition in the Rosean comedy”. Among those who presented were Prof. Elliot Wolfson (UC Santa Barbara), who delivered the Keynote Address, and Prof. Kate Schlick (Victoria University of Wellington).

Prof. Schick’s papers and that of others, including Nicholas Gane, Lois Hartnoll, Robert Lucas Scott and Nigel Tubbs, have been collected and published in print form as “Promise & perdition in the thought of Gillian Rose” (March 2026). An Open Access pdf version is available at the new CRMEP site; print copies are also available.

In addition, the Conference was recorded. Video and audio will be made available shortly.
